Alfama district is the most emblematic of Lisbon and one of the most rewarding for walkers and lovers of photography.

It is a village within the town, and still consists of narrow streets, small squares, churches and houses with wrought iron balconies, decorated with vessels of flowers and birds in cages.

Alfama has influenced poets and novelists, and although the Bairro Alto district is the most traditional fado, is Alfama the place that has always been the inspiration for the Fado. Get lost through so many streets, it is not a difficult task, and indeed is the best way to explore it.
